    • In this eLearning module, you will learn about the Menstrual cycle. The menstrual cycle begins with the first day of bleeding and the cycle ends just before the next menstrual period. The average length of the menstrual cycle is 28-29 days but this can vary. A menstrual cycle has four phases. Menstruation, the follicular phase, ovulation, and the luteal phase are the four main phases of the menstrual cycle.

    • In this eLearning module, you will learn about Fertilization, Cleavage, and Implantation. Before an ovum becomes an embryo it must undergo fertilization, cleavage, and implantation. Fertilization is the union of a sperm and egg to form a zygote. Cleavage serves two main purposes, it forms a multicellular embryo and organizes the embryo into developmental regions. Implantation is when a fertilized egg or blastocyst has attached to the lining of the uterine wall. It marks the beginning of pregnancy.

  • DEVELOPMENT FROM THIRD MONTH TO BIRTH +

    • In this eLearning module, you will learn about the Development from 3rd month to birth. By the end of the third month, the baby is fully formed with arms, hands, fingers, feet, and toes. Fingernails and toenails are beginning to develop and the external ears are formed. Teeth are starting to form. The circulatory and urinary systems are also working and the liver produces bile. Chance of miscarriage drops. During the second trimester, the fetus will start to develop facial features. The third trimester is the final part of pregnancy. Throughout the third trimester, the fetus gains weight quickly. At delivery, the baby is about 18 to 20 inches long and weighs about 7 pounds.
